On Sunday 4 December the WSO returns to the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington for its ever-popular Christmas Family Concert. Making a welcome return as guest narrator is actor Jeffery Dench to narrate Haslam's Juanita the Spanish Lobster, made famous by the legendary Johnny Morris. Also on the programme is Sleigh Ride (Leroy Anderson), Vocalise (Rachmaninov), Troika from Lieutenant Kijé (Prokofiev), La Calinda (Delius) the Radetzky March (Strauss) and Carols and a Quiz introduced by conductor Guy Woolfenden. The Christmas Concert is supported by AlstersKelley Solicitors.
On Saturday 4 March there will be a Sibelius Concert, with Finlandia, Symphony No. 2 in D Major and his Violin Concerto, for which Sigrún Edvaldsdóttir makes a welcome return to the orchestra as soloist. Miss Edvaldsdóttir is now Leader of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. This concert is supported by Valerie Floral Artist.
The final Concert in the 2005-06 Subscription Season is the Warwick Festival Concert. The programme includes Verdi's overture, The Force of Destiny, Nights in the Garden of Spain (de Falla), with guest soloist Philip Martin, Soirées Musicales (Rossini/Britten) and The Pines of Rome (Respighi).
All four of these concerts are conducted by Guy Woolfenden. Subscribers can enjoy the season for less than £10 a concert, and children, students and UB holders for as little as £4.
On Saturday 20 May 2006, the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra joins Saint Michael's Singers and members of Coventry University Choir to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the consecration of Coventry Cathedral on 25 May 1962. Guy Woolfenden and Paul Leddington Wright conduct a concert which includes Sentimental Sarabande (Britten), Sinfonietta (Janácek) and Britten's Spring Symphony.
