For  70 years the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra has played an important part in the musical life in South Warwickshire.  Rehearsing in Warwick, the orchestra regularly gives concerts in Warwick, Leamington Spa and Coventry.

Acknowledged as one of the best amateur orchestras in the country, the WSO has, under the direction of its Principal Conductor and Music Director, Guy Woolfenden, gained a reputation for its imaginative programmes which are designed to appeal to both audiences and players alike.

Over the years the orchestra has worked with many illustrious soloists such as Janet Baker, Julian Bream, Peter Donohoe, Leon Goossens, Philip Martin, Maurice Hasson and Tasmin Little.

The orchestra currently has around 75 playing members. As well as full complements of all sections of the orchestra, we have members who join us for specific concerts when a particular piece or programme demands. Recent examples include Holst's Planets (which required quadruple woodwind, seven horns, organ and offstage women's chorus) and Janácek's Sinfonietta (12 trumpets, 2 bass trumpets, 2 tenor tubas, 4 trombones).
